AAA National Conference & Industry Expo 2025

Spatial Media showcased interactive 3D visualisation and digital engagement solutions at AAA 2025 - supporting airport planning, infrastructure delivery, stakeholder communication and workforce training across the aviation sector.

Spatial Media proudly exhibited at the Australian Airports Association (AAA) National Conference & Industry Expo 2025, held from 1–4 December 2025 at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre. The event brought together airport leaders, government representatives, consultants and technology providers from across Australia and the AsiaPacific region to discuss the future of aviation and airport development.

The 2025 conference was the largest AAA event to date, welcoming nearly 900 delegates, over 100 speakers, and delivering a packed four-day program of plenary sessions, breakout discussions, technical streams and a vibrant industry exhibition.

Conference theme: Accessible – Connected – Safe – Sustainable

The 2025 conference theme — Accessible, Connected, Safe and Sustainable — strongly aligned with the digital engagement, visual communication and training solutions we deliver at Spatial Media. Across the program, speakers explored how airports are responding to rapid change while ensuring positive passenger experiences, operational resilience and long‑term sustainability.

The conference took place during a period of strong passenger growth and significant infrastructure investment across Australia’s airport network, including runway upgrades, terminal expansions and new international services. These discussions highlighted the sector’s transition from post‑pandemic recovery toward long‑term, sustainable growth.

AAA CEO Simon Westaway, alongside host partners, emphasised the importance of collaboration, innovation and community connection in shaping a resilient and future‑ready aviation ecosystem. A key strategic focus for AAA continues to be the push toward a modernised, simplified border and seamless travel experience for Australia.

Key themes and industry discussions

Several important themes resonated throughout the conference program. International border modernisation and the opportunities created by sustained air passenger growth, particularly international travel was central to many discussions, with speakers highlighting the scale of opportunity this presents over the coming years.

Security was also front of mind for the sector, with a dedicated conference stream addressing current challenges, emerging risks and the evolving operational context for airports. A strong emphasis was placed on the need for crossagency collaboration, technology integration and preparedness to ensure safe, efficient airport operations now and into the future.

Celebrating excellence across the sector

A major highlight of the week was the National Airport Industry Awards and Gala Dinner, held on 3 December, which celebrated excellence, leadership and innovation across the Australian airport industry.

We’d like to extend our congratulations to our clients Melbourne Airport and Brisbane Airport on their welldeserved award wins, recognising their ongoing commitment to innovation, passenger experience and operational excellence.

Spatial Media at AAA 2025

James Noble and Isaac Brown attended our Spatial Media stand showcasing how our interactive 3D visualisations, immersive environments, and digital communication tools can support airport master planning, infrastructure delivery, stakeholder engagement, and workforce training. The Spatial Media stand showed attendees how complex technologies, concepts and airport projects can be clearly communicated through visual storytelling, helping align stakeholders and improve decision-making outcomes.

We’re pleased to say that our stand attracted strong interest from airports right across Australia and New Zealand with leaders, planners and project teams seeking innovative ways to communicate infrastructure programs, terminal upgrades, and airside developments. In addition, there is a growing interest from related aviation service providers looking for unique ways to stand out and demonstrate their expertise with lots of exciting collaborations in the mix. Our team enjoyed engaging in meaningful conversations about the growing role of interactive and visual media in aviation infrastructure, particularly in supporting consultation, approvals, and internal engagement across large, multidisciplinary projects.

We’d like to thank the entire AAA team for delivering an outstanding 2025 conference and industry expo. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with the aviation community, share ideas and explore how digital innovation can support the future of airports.

We’re already looking forward to AAA 2026 in Melbourne.

The innovative 3D products and interactive spatial consultation tools developed by the team set a new benchmark

Spatial Media Team played a pivotal role in delivering a range of multi-million-dollar public realm projects, including cycle paths, road and intersection upgrades, and active reserve improvements. Their ability to produce highly detailed and realistic renders, actively participate in workshops, and rapidly refine designs (even with minimal background information) was exceptional. The level of professionalism and attention to detail they provided to the council as the client was truly outstanding. I have already recommended their services to colleagues across the State and look forward to future collaborations. The innovative 3D products and interactive spatial consultation tools developed by the team set a new benchmark for community engagement and project delivery. I would strongly encourage integrating this approach into future projects to enhance clarity, mitigate risks, and build greater confidence among all stakeholders.

Their responsiveness and flexibility, particularly under tight timelines was very helpful and well received.

Spatial Media delivered visualisation services including 3D animations and photomontage assets that brought the concept design to life. Their work was instrumental in communicating the complex design elements to stakeholders and ultimately the broader community. From the outset, Spatial Media demonstrated a deep understanding of infrastructure visualisation requirements, proactively engaging with our engineers and project managers to refine inputs and ensure accuracy. Their responsiveness and flexibility, particularly under tight timelines was very helpful and well received. The teams ability to incorporate feedback quickly and collaborative approach made the process seamless and efficient.

Their can-do attitude was unreal

From the start, it was clear that Spatial Media shared our vision to create a portal that was eye-catching, simple but packed with info! There was nothing that was ever a problem, and their can-do attitude was unreal. Every request we made was met with a “yep, we can do that - we can even do it this other way also (which was generally better that what we had imagined)”. I have been telling everyone who will listen that these guys are just are the real deal - and they can turn stuff around in no time. Can highly recommend working with the Spatial Media team!
