our solution for

Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration Project

Visual suite for the Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration Project (VMFRP) that will get much needed water back onto nine high-value floodplains along the Murray River.

The challenge

Community engagement is an important element of the project particularly with the education on the concept of deliberate flooding as without this water, these iconic landscapes will continue to decline – along with the many native trees, plants and animals that depend on them. Spatial Media was engaged to help stakeholders understand the VMFRP project as a whole and develop visuals that would help to address concerns of the new infrastructure impact on the natural environment.

Our solution

Spatial Media is delighted to have supported the project through the development of a unique interactive Environmental Effects Statement (EES) portal that breaks each of the different areas of the project. This interactive engagement portal includes videos, key documents, an engagement process and an interactive map allowing community to filter different layers and explore more information visually via hotspots. The portal has been designed for users to easily navigate to the different map areas to understand, engage with and digest technical information critical to their interests.

Spatial Media also produced a series of video explainers including a project overview and focus videos on each of the project site areas and their unique aspects. A key element on this project was collaboration with subject matter experts to understand the location specific and technical information and present it in an engaging way that made sense to the everyday public.
