our solution for

Cross River Rail Station Art Portal

Future transport users accessing the Cross River Rail stations are going to have the opportunity to experience a number of first-nation works as they access the subterranean rail system beneath Brisbane.

The challenge

Develop an online resource that explains and highlights public artworks being installed at train stations in Queensland, specifically for the Cross River Rail infrastructure upgrades.

Our solution

The aim is to make transport infrastructure culturally meaningful — art becomes part of the daily experience of commuters and visitors, connecting them to Queensland’s heritage and community storytelling.

To help spread the awareness of these works, and to give users further insights into the pieces themselves, Cross River Rail Delivery Authority (CRRDA) partnered with Publicis and Spatial media to create a masterful visual tour through the four stations – but hosted digitally and accessible via the web.

The Station Art portal was extremely well received, garnering international attention, and lodging as a supremely positive outcome and experience soon to be enjoyed by Brisbane public transport users.

Spatial Media also created a “Kiosk” version of the site which was dynamically adjusted to conform to the display needs of the CRR Experience Centre – established in the Brisbane CBD, featuring a 9:16 Portrait touch-screen hosting the Station Art portal for visitors to use while exploring the centre’s many media and engagement offerings.

from our clients

A very straightforward and fun process

From the initial kick off meeting to the final video, it was a very straightforward and fun process for EnergyAustralia to work with Spatial Media. The final video is outstanding and really helped bring the project to life for our stakeholders. Highly recommended.
