our solution for

Star of the South Turbine Installation

Explaining how offshore wind project Star of the South is proposing to install turbines in the ocean.

The challenge

Star of the South is proposing to use a monopile foundation – the most used foundation for offshore wind farms globally. As Australia’s most advanced offshore wind project the team wanted a visualisation video created which conveys to the audience how it all comes together in an engaging and easy to understand manner.

Our solution

Spatial Media collaborated with the Star of the South team to understand their preferred approach to installing the turbines, collate references from other offshore wind projects globally and determine how to best visually explain the process proposed. Our iterative draft methodology was also used to finesse the details such as the bubble curtain to bring real-life accuracy to the animation.

The result is a powerful 90second explainer clip that depicts the steps of the process clearly and articulately without overwhelming the end user. The video forms a series of visualisation outputs Spatial Media has created for Star of the South and the video is incorporated into their interactive map web portal where users can learn more about the project.
